Enjoy scenic views of the mountains, rivers, and foothills from the top of Saskatoon Mountain, conveniently located 30 km west of Grande Prairie. Saskatoon Mountain Provincial Recreation Area is a part of Alberta’s Dry mixed wood Natural Subregion with aspen, balsam poplar, and white spruce trees. The 940-meter-high mountain is home to a diverse wildlife including over 50 species of birds, 30 species of butterflies, and various mammals including moose, cougars, black bears, and snowshoe hares. Saskatoon Mountain is a popular site for hiking, picnicking, hunting, cross country skiing, wildlife viewing, and Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) use.
